A method of detecting error occurred in a computer system by executing the same instructions by three or more processors simultaneously.The name “voting” is derived from a comparison technique where, if any result differs, the erring CPU is “voted” out of the configuration. The remaining units then continue to operate until the faulty CPU is repaired. Often a fourth processor is kept on standby in order to replace an erring processor.
