A circuit that uses the absence or presence of change on a capacitor to store information, typically with three or four MOS transistors per cell. Fewer transistors give higher packing density and lower cost. Since the capacitor that stores the charge has a leakage current, the stored in formation degrades slowly and therefore must be refreshed periodically.
