The application of computer technology to the processing of image. The objectives of computer assisted image processing fall into three categories: the removal of known image degradations, a procedure known as “image restoration”; the exaggeration of obscure details, or “image enhancement”; and the location and meansuration of specific details, a process called “information extraction”.
