A communication procedure wherein characters keyboarded by the operator do not print directly on his printer, but are sent to acomputer which echoes the characters back for printing. This procedure, requiring full-duplex communica- tion facilities, provides a form of error control by displaying to the operator an indication of the character received by the computer.
